Welcome to ROMAE, the West Village's new home for Italian soul and Argentinian fire. From hand-made pasta to steaks grilled over an open-flame parrilla, every plate celebrates the century-old bond between two of the world's great food cultures, served in a warm, freshly remodeled dining room in Greenwich Village.
The name ROMAE means "of Rome" a nod to the millions of Italian families who made Argentina their home over the past century, bringing their pasta, their pizza, and their love of the table with them. That shared heritage is the heart of our kitchen. At ROMAE, hand-rolled tortellini sits comfortably beside a sizzling Argentine ribeye, and a classic milanesa napolitana shares the table with a glass of Mendoza Malbec. This isn't Italian food or Argentinian food, it's both, the way it's been enjoyed in Buenos Aires kitchens for generations, now right here in the West Village.
"Bringing the warm dining legacy of Buenos Aires kitchens straight to Seventh Avenue South."
Our parrilla is the beating heart of ROMAE. We fire grass-fed Argentine cuts over an open flame and finish them with house chimichurri, just as they do in Buenos Aires. Come hungry for our 14 oz Argentine Rib Eye, juicy Prime Entraña skirt steak, or smoky Costillas de Asado short ribs. Dining with someone special? The ROMAE West Village Parrillada for two brings skirt steak, NY strip, flap steak, short rib, and picanha to your table on one glorious platter.
Our signature mixed grill (Skirt, Strip, Flap, Short Rib & Picanha)
From the Italian side of our story, we make our pasta by hand and serve it the way it should be — simple, comforting, and done right. Try our Ricotta Tortellini with braised short ribs in tomato and red wine sauce, pillowy gnocchi, or spinach and ricotta ravioli. And no Italo-Argentine table is complete without a milanesa, order ours a la Napolitana, topped with ham, mozzarella, and tomato sauce, for the dish that perfectly captures both countries on one plate.
Start the night the Argentine way. Our empanadas are baked fresh and brushed with egg wash, choose from classic beef, chorizo and mozzarella, spicy chicken, and more, or share a half-dozen for the table. Pair them with grilled Provoleta, crispy Calamares Fritos, or the Argentinian Combo of sausage, blood sausage, and sweetbreads, our chef's pick for the full parrilla experience.
Malbec Premium & Malbec Reserva by the glass or bottle. Custom digestifs like Fernet and Coke, refreshing Malbec Verano, or Italian classic Aperol Spritz.
Great steak deserves great wine. Our list is built around Argentina's signature grape, with Malbec Premium and Malbec Reserva by the glass or bottle, alongside Cabernet, Pinot Noir, Chianti, and crisp whites. Prefer a cocktail? Sip an Aperol Spritz, a refreshing Malbec Verano, or the unmistakably Argentine Fernet and Coke. Save room for a flan con dulce de leche or our Italian Tiramisu to finish.
You'll find ROMAE at 57 Seventh Avenue South in the heart of New York City's West Village, just steps from the Christopher Street–Sheridan Square station and easy to reach from anywhere in Greenwich Village or Lower Manhattan. Whether it's date night, a celebration, or simply a craving for steak and pasta, our dining room is made for lingering over one more glass of Malbec.
